This pattern is for sizes S/M, L/XL, and XXL/XXXL. This pattern works up really quickly so it’s perfect to sell on your shop, or even at markets! Please note the photographs are of a L/XL cardi.

Notes:

  • The pattern in written in sizes S/M with the other sizes in [ ] as such [L/XL, XXL/XXXL].
  • You can make the cardi shorter by reducing the number of chains on each panels.
  • I designed this cardi so the front panels do not meet in the front, if you would like the cardi to be able to close add rows onto the front panels.

Front Panel (make two):

Make a slipknot and CH 61 [65,69]

Row 1: DC in 3rd ST from hook and in each CH across, CH 2 and turn. (58) [62,66]

Row 2: DC in each ST across, CH 2 and turn. (58) [62,66]

Row 3-9[11,13]: Dc in each ST across, CH 2 and turn. (58) [62,66]

Secure yarn and weave in the ends.

Back Panel:

Make a slipknot and CH 61 [65,69].

Row 1: DC in 3rd ST from hook and in each ST across, CH 2 and turn. (58) [62,66]

Row 2: DC in each ST across, CH 2 and turn. (58) [62,66]

Row 3-24[27,30]: DC in each ST across, CH 2 and turn. (58) [62,66]

Secure yarn and weave in the ends.

Assembly:

Lay out the back panel, lay both front panels on top matching the corners.  Place stitch markers at all four corners of both front panels attaching the front panels to the back panel.  Seam the shoulders together using a mattress stitch. Now place stitch markers 7 [8,10] inches below the shoulder seam (count 13 [15,17] STS down) to create the armhole. Mattress stitch from that stitch marker all the way to the bottom, be sure to match the STS together.  Weave in ends.

Sleeves:

Attach yarn to bottom of the armhole with a SLST, CH 1.

Round 1: SC in each ST around, join into the top of the first SC with a SLST.  (30) [32,34]

Round 2: CH 2, DC around, join into the top of the first DC with a SLST. (30) [32,34]

Round 3: CH 2, DC in next three STS, INVDEC in next ST, DC in next three STS, INVDEC in next ST, continue to DC three and INVDEC around, join into the top of the first DC with a SLST. (24) [26,28]

Round 4: CH 1, HDC into each ST around, join into the top of the first HDC with a SLST.  (24) [26,28]

Round 5: LS around the edge of the sleeve.

Secure yarn, and weave in ends. Repeat for the second sleeve.

Collar:

Attach yarn on the bottom corner of the left front panel using a SLST.

Row 1: CH 1, HDC in each ST up the the front panel, evenly along the neck, down the right panel, put three HDC in the last stitch, continue to HDC in each ST along the bottom, put three HDC in the last ST, SLST into the top on the 1st HDC.  DO NOT CUT.

Trim: LS up the front panel, evenly along the neck, and down the right front panel stop at the end of the front panel.  Secure yarn and weave in ends. That’s it you’re done the Penrose Cardi!
